Ford has been America’s leading brand in commercial vehicles for the past 35 years, and a number of new changes on the horizon ensure that streak continues for years more to come. The new 2022 Ford F-650 and F-750, due to arrive at Sun State Ford in Orlando next year, will be available with the mighty new 7.3-liter gas V8 engine.
V8 Roars On
This engine, first offered up on the 2020 Super Duty, delivers superior horsepower and torque for the vehicles that need power the most. When applied to the 2022 Ford F-650 and F-750, it’s expected to cost as much as $9,245 less to operate than a comparable truck with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke®, meaning more savings over the long haul. The 7.3-liter gas V8 will also feature an integrated air compressor, carrying forward the Ford reputation for innovation.
“We expect this new offering to be popular in several vocational segments including propane delivery, municipalities, utilities and tree service,” said Nathan Oscarson, Ford commercial truck brand manager. “Many customers have told us they’d like to take advantage of the cost savings provided by a gas truck, but they also want the peace of mind provided by air brakes.”
Welcome to the Family
Also new to the Ford commercial vehicle lineup is the 2021 Ford F-600, which is set to arrive this summer. The 7.3-liter V8 is currently available on the Ford Super Duty F-450, F-550, F-600 chassis cab, Medium Duty, E-Series, and F-53 and F-59 stripped chassis.
