For the 43rd year in a row, the Ford F-Series pickup is the best-selling truck in America. Ford’s Vice President of U.S. Marketing and Sales, Mark LaNeve, said of the triumph: “America’s best-selling brand for the past decade is on a roll. F-Series celebrates 43 years as the country’s favorite truck and 38 years as its overall vehicle.”
More Popular Than Ever
In 2019, Ford’s truck sales were up 9.1 percent from the prior year, with a massive 1.24 million trucks sold in total and 896,526 F-Series trucks. This represents Ford’s best total truck sales figure since 2005. Quarter four was Ford’s most successful quarter of truck sales since 2001, with a sales increase of 15.9 percent and a 1.6 percent increase from the F-Series.
Growing Truck Lineup
The F-Series wasn’t the only massively popular Ford truck in 2019, either; the newly re-introduced Ranger saw 89,571 sales during the year. Of those sales, more than a third happened in the fourth quarter of the year.
The history of the pickup in America is inextricably linked with the Ford brand. In the early 20th century, Ford revolutionized both the automotive and industrial world with the introduction of the Model T, the first truck built in a factory. The Ford F-Series pickup was introduced in the 1940s and went on to begin its 43-year-long reign as the best-selling truck in America in 1977.
