Performance variants are all the rage these days, especially as gas prices dip once again. Ford’s been working hard to keep up with demand for more powerful vehicles, offering performance models like the Focus ST and Fiesta ST. Now, rumors are floating that the automaker may be looking to add another performance variant to the lineup in the form of an SUV—the Ford Escape ST.
Known as the Kuga in Europe, the Escape is one of Ford’s most popular models around the globe. The SUV’s popularly means we could likely see a Ford Escape ST in the near future.
The current Ford Escape comes with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost that pumps out 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. A performance variant would likely have more power and possibly a larger engine to go along with it.
Ford doesn’t seem to be stopping there. Word has it a premium variant of the Escape SUV is in the works as well. Called the Vignale, the luxury trim would look to give more to consumers already looking at the top-end Titanium and Titanium X variants.
In addition to the Escape of course, which Ford models would you like to see produced into an ST model? Tell us at Sun State Ford!
